In short: Public Holidays is one of the six countdown packs in Kounts. Follow it on your iPhone or iPad and the nationwide public holidays of any of 22 countries arrive as countdowns, each under its local name and with a reminder the day before. Your own country comes suggested first. When a holiday passes it moves to next year on its own, and the dates are built into the app, so nothing needs a connection. Browsing is free; the pack is $1.99 once, or included in Premium.

How the pack keeps your holidays
Nationwide holidays only
Each country's national public holidays, plus any observed in at least 60% of its regions. Regional days and one-off holidays are left out, so what you see is what most of the country shares.
Local names first
Each holiday arrives under the name it has at home: Dia da Liberdade in Portugal, not a translation. The pack's list shows the English name beside it, so you always know which day is which.
A reminder the day before
Every holiday comes with a reminder one day ahead, so a long weekend never catches you out. The reminders are yours to change.
Next year, on its own
Once a holiday passes, its countdown moves to the same holiday next year. Holidays that shift from year to year land on the right day without you looking anything up.
Built into the app
The holiday dates ship inside Kounts, so nothing is fetched and no connection is needed. They run through 2029 and are refreshed with app updates.
Only the ones you want
Every holiday in the pack has a tick. Untick the ones you'd rather skip, before or after you follow, and they stay out. Delete one from your list and it stays gone.
See the next long weekend coming
With your country's holidays in your list, the next one is always in view. Spot the holiday that sits next to a weekend, then start a trip countdown for the getaway you plan around it.
In the US
The United States is one of the 22 countries. Just want a quick number? The site also counts the days until the 4th of July, Memorial Day and Labor Day.
In the UK
The United Kingdom is in too, so the days until the next bank holiday can sit on your Home Screen. Waiting on the last one of the year? See how many days until Boxing Day.
Pack or holiday template?
Kounts has two ways to count down to a holiday, and you can use both.
Holiday templates
Twenty-five free templates, from Christmas to Diwali. Each one starts a single countdown, dressed in that holiday's own theme. Good for the few days you care about most.

Follows a country's whole set of official holidays and keeps every date right: each one under its local name, with a reminder the day before, and next year's date once it passes.
Once the holidays are in your list
- The date is locked, the rest is yours. The pack keeps the date right. The title, artwork, photo, reminders and notes are yours to change, and your edits survive every refresh.
- A category of their own. Holidays land in the built-in Feeds category, so one filter shows or hides them all. They don't count against the free plan's 15 upcoming events.
- Everywhere your events go. They show in your Home Screen widgets, on your Apple Watch, in notifications and on the Timeline, like any other event.
- iPhone and iPad. You follow packs in the Discover tab, which the Mac app doesn't have.

Frequently asked questions
Which countries are included?
The Public Holidays pack covers 22 countries: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czechia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tรผrkiye, the United Kingdom and the United States. Your own country comes pre-selected, and you can add or remove others any time.
Are regional or state holidays included?
No. The pack sticks to nationwide public holidays: national ones, plus holidays observed in at least 60% of a country's regions. Holidays kept by a single state, province or region are left out, and so are one-off days. If you want a local holiday, add it as a countdown of your own.
Will the holidays show in my language?
Each holiday arrives under its local name, the one used in that country, such as Dia da Liberdade in Portugal. In the pack's list the English name sits beside it, so you can tell what each day is. The title is yours to change, so you can rename any holiday in your list.
How far ahead do the holiday dates go?
The holiday dates are built into the app and currently run through 2029. They are refreshed with app updates. Because nothing is fetched online, the pack works without a connection.
How much does the Public Holidays pack cost?
Browsing is free. The pack is a one-time purchase of $1.99, or $3.99 for all six countdown packs, including any pack added later. Kounts Premium includes every pack. Holidays from the pack don't count against the free plan's 15 upcoming events. Prices can vary by region.
Can I change a holiday countdown from the pack?
The date stays locked to the pack, because the pack is what keeps it right. The title, artwork, photo, reminders, category and notes are yours to change, and your edits survive every refresh. Delete a holiday you don't want and it stays gone.
Does it work on Mac and Apple Watch?
You follow the pack on iPhone or iPad. The holidays then behave like any other event on that device: they show in widgets, on your Apple Watch, in notifications and on the Timeline. The Mac app doesn't have the Discover tab, so you can't follow packs there. On a second iPhone or iPad, follow the pack there too; the purchase carries over.
Always know when the next holiday is
Kounts is free on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, with no ads. Browse the Public Holidays pack for free, and follow it for $1.99, once.
