In short: Kounts for Mac is a native Mac countdown app with a countdown in the menu bar, Mac widgets, notifications and Cinematic Focus, which turns the whole window into your next countdown. It shares one purchase with the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch apps, and with Premium it syncs with them through your own iCloud. Free to download, with no ads.

Made for the desktop
Cinematic Focus
Press ⌘0, or the button in the toolbar, and the window becomes your next countdown: its artwork edge to edge, its title big, the days, hours, minutes and seconds ticking under it. Go full screen for a proper wall; the display won't sleep while it's up.
It moves on by itself
When a moment arrives, Cinematic Focus crossfades to whatever is next, so you can leave it up and it stays current. A glass rail lists the next four countdowns; click one to open it. The rail fades after a few idle seconds.
A countdown in the menu bar
Your next countdown sits in the menu bar, one glance away whatever you're working in. It keeps Kounts running without a window, and a notification, a widget or a link brings the window straight back.
Mac widgets
Put countdowns on your desktop and in Notification Center, including the Year Ring, with a dot for every upcoming event around the year, and the split-flap Departure Board.
The Shared Space, on the Mac
Create a Shared Space, invite people, move countdowns between Personal and Shared, or leave it, all from the Mac, the same as on iPhone.
Alarms that get through
Reminders arrive as Mac notifications, and an event marked Important breaks through Focus, with its own switch in Settings. Click a notification and it opens that event.
Yours on the Mac, too
The personal touches from the iPhone carry over.
- ✓Five fonts, from Cabinet Grotesk to Telma, in Settings → Font
- ✓Sixteen app icons for the Dock with Premium, including seasonal ones that come round for the holidays
- ✓A Timeline calendar that fills each day with its event's photo or artwork
- ✓Your own photos, or one of ten hand-tuned gradient artworks
What stays on iPhone and iPad, for now
A few things live on the phone and the iPad only. Countdown packs and the Discover tab, Birthdays from Contacts, and taking a photo with the camera are iPhone and iPad features, and the newest photo tools (the Depth effect, Create image) and Pin to top arrived on iPhone and iPad first. Everything you create yourself, including a Shared Space, is on the Mac.
