In short: Kounts turns a game's release date into a countdown. Open Discover on iPhone or iPad, pick Video Games, search for the game and follow it. The countdown lands in your list with the cover art behind it, shows in your widgets and on your Apple Watch, and moves if the release date moves. A game without a firm date waits until it has one. Searching is free; following is $1.99 once, $3.99 for every pack, or included in Premium.

What the Video Games pack does
One countdown per game, with the release day as the date and the cover as the art.
Search any game
Type a name, pick the game from the results, and its release day becomes a countdown. Game details come from RAWG, a video game database, and you can follow up to 25 games at once.
The cover as the background
Each game countdown uses the game's cover art as its background, so your list looks like the shelf you're waiting on. Rather have your own photo or one of the app's gradients? Swap it in.
Most anticipated
The pack opens on the ten games most people are waiting for. Each one has a firm release date and an Add button next to it. Games without a date don't make the list.
Yours to style, not to move
The release date stays locked to the pack, because the pack is what keeps it right. The title, artwork, photo, reminders, category and notes are yours, and your changes survive every refresh.
A Feeds category of their own
Game countdowns land in the built-in Feeds category with everything else your packs add, so one filter shows or hides all of them at once.
Outside the free limit
The free plan holds 15 upcoming countdowns of your own. Game countdowns don't count toward them, so a busy release season never pushes out a birthday or a trip.
Delays, TBA dates and launch day
Release dates change. A game countdown in Kounts follows the date instead of holding on to an old one.
- Only a TBA or a year? A placeholder never becomes a countdown. The game waits until a real release date is announced, so you're never counting down to a guess.
- A firm date arrives. The release day becomes the countdown's date, with the cover art behind it.
- The game is delayed. The countdown moves to the new date. Your title, artwork, reminders and notes stay exactly as you left them.
- Release day passes. The countdown is removed, so your list only holds the games you're still waiting for.
Kounts re-checks the games you follow when you open the app, at most every 12 hours. Your search text and the games you follow go to RAWG to look up dates, with no account or personal identifier attached.
A game countdown widget, and more
On your Home Screen
Game countdowns show in your Home Screen widgets like any other event. Every widget in Kounts is free.
On your wrist
The days to launch show on your Apple Watch alongside the rest of your countdowns.
In notifications and the Timeline
Add a reminder before launch day and it arrives as a notification like any other. Your releases also sit on the Timeline next to your own plans.
Waiting on a show or a film too? The TV Shows pack counts down to a show's next episode, and the Movies pack to a film's release day.

Frequently asked questions
Is there an app that counts down to video game releases?
Yes. Kounts has a Video Games pack on iPhone and iPad. Search for a game, follow it, and its release day becomes a countdown with the game's cover as the background. The pack also opens on the ten most anticipated games, each with a firm date and an Add button. You can follow up to 25 games at a time.
Can I get a countdown for a game that has no release date yet?
You can follow it, but it won't count down yet. A TBA date or a year-only placeholder never becomes a countdown, because counting to a placeholder would mean counting to the wrong day. The game waits until a real release date is announced. Kounts checks again when you open the app, at most every 12 hours.
What happens if a game is delayed?
The countdown moves with it. Kounts re-checks the games you follow when you open the app, at most every 12 hours, and a new release date replaces the old one. Your title, artwork, photo, reminders and notes stay as you set them.
Can I put a game countdown on my Home Screen or Apple Watch?
Yes. Once you follow a game, its countdown behaves like any other event in Kounts: it shows in your Home Screen widgets, on your Apple Watch, in notifications and on the Timeline. Every widget in Kounts is free.
How much does the Video Games pack cost?
Searching is free. Following games is a one-time purchase of $1.99 for the pack, or $3.99 for every pack, including any added later. Kounts Premium includes every pack. Prices vary by region, and game countdowns don't count toward the free plan's 15 events.
Where do the release dates come from?
From RAWG, a video game database. Your search text and the ids of the games you follow go to RAWG to look up their dates. No account or personal identifier goes with them.
Does the Video Games pack work on Mac?
No. You follow games on iPhone and iPad, and the Mac app does not have the Discover tab where the packs live. Follows are kept per device, so a second iPhone or iPad follows its own games, and your purchase carries over.
Count down to the next game you're waiting on
Kounts is free on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, with no ads. Search the Video Games pack for free, and follow your games for good.
